It’s time once again to join Co-founders Michael Thompson and Vincent Gasparro with other Project Engagement volunteers to assemble nutritious Christmas food boxes for families in need. Last year, thanks to the contributions of more than 50 businesses and the help of a dedicated army of volunteers, EMS, Toronto Fire and Toronto Police we were able to provide food, clothing and household supplies to more than 350 desperately poor families. The food boxes we delivered brought these families vital relief and comfort through the holidays.
The families selected for this year’s holiday program were brought to our attention by our community volunteers, and through our own community needs assessment. By providing a few hours of your time to help out, you will make celebrating the holiday season and surviving through the winter a bit easier for hundreds of families in need.
Last year, more than 200 people volunteered to help assemble the Christmas boxes. This year, with the number of families served by the program increasing, we need even more volunteers. This is a one day event, and we will be grateful for any time that you can provide.
*Students may use this community involvement towards their mandatory 40 hours of community service.
Date: Thursday, December 22nd beginning at 7:00 to 7:30 am when our turkeys arrive. Come hungry and enjoy a free volunteer breakfast. After breakfast, our food box assembly line goes into action.
Location:Ellesmere Community Centre – 20 Canadian Road (Warden and Ellesmere Road)
